I remember when...

I was a child ....

Things were less complicated...
More simple.

I remember not having a care in the world...
I remember when my only responsibility was cleaning my room and cleaning the bathroom...

I remember when my biggest worry was what I was going to wear to school...

I remember the first day I could walk to the store by myself without a parent, THAT WAS A BIG DEAL...i was 9 years old...

I remember when we could sleep on the back porch with the just the screen door and all the windows open....(didn't have to worry about  anyone breaking in)

I remember when my grandmother would sing to me and read passages from the bible...
I remember when my grandmother would kiss all my boo-boos and make them better, God I miss my grandmother...she had a way to make the best out every and any situation ...

I remember long nights of hide n seek and jumping double dutch with my cousins and friends.

I remember when the only man in my life was my DADDY....he still is my Hero!!!

I remember the first time I found God....I was 13 years old!

I remember long rides in the car with my parents and siblings, not knowing where we were going, but excited anyways, because I knew it would be somewhere fun!!!!

I remember my Good old sticker album, I had THE BEST STICKER ALBUM on the block!  I remember going to Chicago Ridge Mall, to the STICKY sticker store and blowing most of my allowance on stickers...

I remember sleeping in my grandmother's bed when I was scared...
I remember faking sleep in the car so that my dad would carry me in the house and right up to my parents bed!!!!

I remember racing home to watch Specrtreman....I never missed an episode...

I remember wanting to look like MARSHA BRADY.....as if.....LOL
I remember the first time I kissed a boy.....it was so odd! LOL

I remember my first pair of underoos.....It was Superwoman!!!  I thought I was the stuff!!!

I remember fist fry's on Fridays....My grandmother and my mom would fry loads and loads of catfish and perch and make spaghetti and cole slaw .... and my family would come over and they would play cards, and that meant "us kids" could get into mischief, because our parents were tipsy and playing cards....LOL

I remember Big Sunday dinners!!!!!  It was like Thanksgiving every Sunday.....My grandmother would cook a 8 course meal, with all the desserts....and again family would come over.  I would be so mad when she cooked fried corn, that she took right off a fresh cob of corn....I didn't want anybody to touch her corn.  It was tooooo good to share!  LOL

I remember the first time I learned to ride a bike, my brother Marcus taught me, I was only 5 years old.

I remember sneaking and watching Benny Hill ....it was forbidden in my household...LOL
I remember laying on top of the car at the Drive in Movie Theather boy do I miss that...

I remember going skating every Saturday with my best friend Monica...I am quite the skater...I can do all the tricks, crazy legs and all.....LOL

I remember when I thought I was going to dig my way to CHINA, I got the whooping of my life for tearing up my grandmothers grass.....LOL

Of all things, I remember Having fun, with no worries, I remember when life was less complicated and less dramatic.....

I always tell my kids to ENJOY BEING A CHILD....you are only a child for a mere 18 years....and after that is Adulthood and it lasts a whole lot longer.....

I would give anything to go back to less responsibility and a less complicated life...

Children have it made in the shade, but as I did, they all want to grow up too fast...

I am grown....and  "it's not all what it's cracked up to be people"  LOL

Enjoy life!!!

And take a little time to reflect back

I agree w/Bonnie Rose. This is an awesome post! It's great you can remember so much about your childhood...and great of you to write it all down! I need to do that...

What a wonderfully nostalgic list Dana! LOL'ing at you sneaking in to watch Benny Hill! Wasn't he just the dirtiest little old man ever! I loved watching him too.

This was your best post ever. It is so true what they say "Don't rush to grow up". If I knew then what I know now...Man, I would be dangerous. LOL, I remember doing that! The world is so unpredictable now. They are very few drive-ins, the cartoons aren't the same, and the music doesn't hug you like the old school jams. Those were the days..I wish to go back there.
