It's Friday baby!

Gotta love my mom, she took Jaree to get her hair done yesterday! Jaree's hair broke off really bad and I have been sending her to the shop to get treatments so that her hair can be healthy. It's grown out a lot. We cut off all the damaged hair, and it's been growing like weeds. She literally had NO HAIR on the left hand side. No more micro braids for Jaree, if so, she can only wear them for 6 weeks and not 3 months. I can't see myself paying $300 for only 6 weeks, so she won't be getting them any more. Her hair is to fine for it.

Just like a WOMAN, you know you get that NEW ATTITUDE when you get a NEW DUE!

It's hard to believe this girl is only 9. She is developing so fast.

Yes, she is something else!!!! Can you tell?


Look what my mommy bought me!!!! I have been wanting these ladder shelves for my scraproom for the longest time! And guess what mommy brings over yesterday. Yes, I am spoiled and Proud of it!!!! LOL

The only sadness I felt was NOT having my grandparents here to Witness this MIRACLE!

I was over on the twopeas website and I came across a post about all the new goodies at Michaels. And one of things that struck me was the new Martha Stewart Valentine Lace Edger Punches, so I decided to go in and see what the hype was all about.

I am so glad that Baptiste was NOT with me, because he would have FLIPPED when he saw the bill. Which was RIDICULOUS! But, hey I deserve it! LOL

Also, it was brought in, in spurts! This was two Michaels trips!! Within two days of each other, so he never really saw the heap all at once!

Now I have to hustle and put everything away before he gets home from work! LOL Well, that is after I look at it all one more time!

Random Thoughts

Today it's super cold, snowing, and miserable outside...

but inside my house, it's cozy, and quiet!
I have no plans of leaving my house today...
Except for picking up the kids...

Days like this, give you a lot of time to think!

I have been thinking a lot about this blog and the direction I want it to take...

A few things I would like to do, is include a Randm thoughts day, self portrait day, creative moments day.... Just don't know what day's I would like to do it on.

I really love blogging. I have met so many wonderful people, that I would have not otherwise met, if not for blogging. Some people I have grown, so close too! Those of you know who you are ....LOL

I have been really scrapping for the last couple of days. But have only completed 2 layouts....LOL I have more in me. My mojo is really flowing, so I am going with it. Before this, I haven't scrapped in like forever..... So I am happy to be scrappy...LOL

Days like this you want to stay in bed all day under the covers, take a hot bath, never get out of your pj's and sip on hot cocoa. Grab a good book or magazine and never leave the house. Maybe even a good movie!

Today, I will be cooking a HUGE POT of Seafood Gumbo, Chicken, Sausage, Crab Legs, Lobster Tails, and Jumbo Shrimp!

I can't wait for dinner!
Baptiste said, he is so glad, that he married a woman who can cook. And as my dad says, I can BURN!

My grandmother started teaching me to cook at 7 years old.

By the time I was 11, I could cook a full coarse meal!

It's so bitterly cold outside! I am a person who HATES COLD!
I have my crazy fuzzy socks on, fuzzy pj's and I am still cold. Heat is on a record 78. Normally my dial doesn't go past 74, but shit it's cold as a mutha out there! LOL Baptiste is just going to have to deal with it!

Straight hair

My mom blow dryed my hair and flat ironed it for me.
I have tons of hair! It's super curly! But mom took care of that for me. Thanks MOM!

I am blessed with a head full of thick pretty hair!
I get that from both sides. My mom has beautiful hair and so does my dad!

I usually keep it curly and I do like it curly, but it was time for a change. When I get sick of this I can just wash it and it will go back to the little ringlets!

It's funny because I am always asked what my NATIONALITY is....
And I look at them funny, because to me I look African American...
However I am a mutt...
I am the product of a bi-racial father and a multi-racial mother...

My mother is African, Native American, East Indian, and Irish...
My father is Creole (mother) and father was French and Native American.

So yes, I am all mixed up...
I have always claimed to be African American, because that is what I see when I look in the mirror! That is what identify best as being....

I am going to the movies and out to dinner tommorrow, well actually it's later today! I am going to see the Unborn! Can't wait!

New Year=New Attitude

With this new year, brings new Perspective.
A new leash in life...

I have gotten rid of all the bullshit people in my life
I have gotten rid of people who bring nothing but drama....

If you don't mean me any good, then you are as good as gone!
I am 34 years old and it's time to live my life, free of NEGATIVITY and TOXIC PEOPLE...

I only surround myself around people who are positive and uplifting....

Unfortunately, some of these people are family.....
I have just got to this place where I like PEACE...
I don't feel like being STRESSED OUT!

With this new year, brings NEW BEGINNINGS...
new friends
new endeavors, that include (finishing Grad school, starting a few new hobbies like knitting,beading and maybe sewing, I am kinda of accident prone, so the sewing maybe a little dangerous)
New business ventures
New outlook on life...

I don't do resolutions...
I have goals!
One is to live a healthier lifestyle!
I have lost 22lbs, but I want to lose 30 more!!!
So with that, I plan on exercising more and watching what I eat!

I also plan to make more time for my family ...
Not just my immediate family...

My extended family as well...

Plan to take more TIME for myself!! And do things that DANA wants to do...

I also plan to blog more in this NEW YEAR....
I know that seems a little rocky, since I haven't blogged and it is already a week into the new year, but I plan to change all that.

I plan to be more creative with my blogging, and post more of my CREATIONS, whether it's a layout, a painting, decoupauge art, mixed media, I will share it. Want to take my blog in a more artistic direction...

I also plan to take my photography to the next level!!!

These are just a few of my goals for this year!
I am optimistic and eager to start working on these goals!

Look for this blog to take another direction soon!

Still will be the same, but with added perks!!!!

Can't believe the year is almost over

Christmas was a blast. We had a good time. We spent Christmas morning with my mom and went to the inlaws later that evening! This is a pic of Baptiste and B stuffed later that evening!

This may puzzle a few people, who follow my blog. Why did Jaree get another Nintendo Ds, well she liked the new color! LOL She had a pink one!!! So when she got this one, she traded her pink one got 4 games.....LOL

This was yet another wild goose chase. Jaree wanted this Baby Alive learns to potty and I went to a gazillion stores to find an African American Doll!

It's Christmas Eve

And we have a new addition to the family. I introduce you to Sugar Reese Brooks!!! Our new Calico Cat. She is so curious!

So I don't know he did it, but Bee my oldest , talked us into giving him his Christmas Cash early!!!! I normally do not do this, but he said he wanted to buy some things and the sale ended on Christmas Eve. I immediately regreted not getting him a Visa Gift Card, because It was an EXTREMELY LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH!!! But, my nephew went with him, didn't want him to get knocked in the head.....LOL
With his money he bought

100 dollar blue tooth set! I don't see how what so good, but he says it bluetooths to his laptop, ipod, cell phone, and something else......I wouldn't have bought it!!! LOL


He also bought a 32 inch Flat screen LCD and a wall mount!

Home Theater system!!!!

That's his frantic self hooking everything up in his room!
I was shocked he had any cash left but he still came home with 72 bucks. He did well with his money. I tried to tell him to wait until Christmas to open it all, but he wasn't going!!!! LOL

We cleaned until our backs hurt. The house is totally clean! Smelling good, and Christmas ready!!!

Can't wait to see my babies faces in the morning. I am so excited.

Two days before the big day!

"Twas two days before Christmas, when all through the house.....
Excitement was brewing...

I can't believe Christmas in only 2 days away!
Christmas Eve is tommorrow...

Wooooo. Time flies
When I was child it seemed like it took forever for Christmas to arrive. Not in my adult life. It sneaks up on you soooo fast.

I can't wait to see the kids faces on Thursday morning!!! They are going to be so happy! Which makes me happy.

I am more of a giver, than a receiver. Don't get me wrong. who doesn't like gifts? But just to see the smiles on my kids faces, my nieces and nephews faces, god children, parents, friends, ....
It's just plain PRICELESS!

that is what Christmas is about....giving....not receiving.
My kids fully are aware, atleast in our house, that Jesus is the reason for the season. It not all about Santa and his little reindeer!

I cannot begin to repeat how happy and excited I am.

We decided to give B (our oldest) His birthday money early. He is going out later to buy some stuff, so that "he could feel like he has something for Christmas too" Wonder if he will wait to Christmas to open it up. If I know my son, the answer is HELLLLLLLL NO! He has quite a bit of money, so I will be interested in seeing what he does with it! I am kind of regretting that I did not put it in a form of a Visa gc, instead of CASH! Because I don't want anybody trying to do anything to him! But he will be with my nephew Marion, who by the way turned 21 today!!! Wooohooo! Go boy! And don't tell anybody I AM YOUR AUNT! LOL

They are getting ready to leave to go to Best Buy, so I know it won't be clothes he will be buying. LOL It's his money and I never dictate what they can buy with it, so I am curious what he will be getting!

I have to wrap presents today, and since Jaree is gone! that girl is super duper nosey!!!! She went to my parents house until Christmas Eve. They are taking her out to eat and to see Bolt! That girl is spoiled rotten!!!! LOL

Well gotta go. Got lots to do today. I will report on tommorrow, what be picked up with his LOOT!!! LOL

We are in desperate need of happy times around here

My cousin Teddy passed of a massive heart attack at the age of 39 years old.
So young.
He had sickle cell and I am wondering was this a complication.

He was so sweet! So funny, the life of the party....

He could dance his ASS off!!!!!
I will miss him dearly!
This is surreal. My heart just aches for his daughter Keyah! Who I call my niece!!!
She took the news soooooo hard, so hard that she had a horrible asthma attack.

Please, Please, say a prayer for our family.

We always seem to have deaths in our family right before Christmas, My uncle Marion, My grandpa, My Cousin Dionne, and now Teddy..... Pure craziness!

My heart is so heavy!

I have been to 7 different Walmarts and they do not have it! Hello Makers of Baby Alive, you need to PRODUCE MORE AFRICAN AMERICAN DOLLS, every place I went was sold out, but they had a gazillion White dolls. No Hispanic or African American Dolls. WTF??? We do exist people. Ok, got that gripe out!

Today, I am putting some more stuff on the tree...
Watching House, Fringe and BAd girls club......

Taking a big ole bubble bath, drink some peppermint hot chocalate, and going to bed!!

I was just thinking to myself, what do you give to children that have everything...

I will admit, we spoil our kids rotten!
They have everything, Xbox 360, PS3 (which they hardly play, they use as a damn cd and dvd player...LOL, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, IPods, they have just about everything....
Yet they always seem to be bored! WTF? This drives me nuts! They have a gazillion games. What's the damn problem?

And they will find more stuff they want and still be bored!

Jaree drives me crazy because she changes her Christmas list daily!!!

My oldest B is so easy, all he ever wants is Money!!! Which is right up my alley!

I just remind them how fortunate they are. They really are fortunate, because their are kids who don't have food to eat, let alone all the latest and greatest gadgets...

Now they inherited this from their dad!!! He is a TOTAL gadget freak and Video game fanatic!
They so did not get that from me!

I am truly blessed and they are truly blessed because I have a husband with a very stable and good job that allows me to stay home and take care of the children, and still be able to pay the mortgage, car notes, pay all the bills, and still endulge us in MOST of our wants!!!!

We really want for nothing!!!
I am fully capable of working, but Baptiste is very OLD FASHIONED and does not want me to work at all!!!!

I was just looking at all the stuff, I bought for Christmas. It's just crazy! But, I was another child who got everything they wanted, spoiled and still do this day is spoiled to the core by my parents.

Baptiste on the other hand struggled, and that is why he is so quick to give his kids anything his kids desire, because he didn't get a chance to ALWAYS get what he wanted.

My parents were pretty well off, so that was not my lifestyle.
Baptiste has been working since he was 13, just to get all the things he wanted and help his mom (who was widowed at 22 right after Baptiste was born) out. He still helps his mom out!
He is truly one of a kind! He is A GOOD MAN! I am so lucky to have him in my life.

HE never complains! About money! He just gives. And I can ask for a lot. LOL

He just does not like to be involved in the shopping! He likes to run in and out....LOL
Like a lot of men!!! LOL

We have spent so much money on the kids this year and I was thinking next year, I am going to set a strict budget and stick to it. Because I get so caught up into the frenzy, that I lose control. We have spent well over a thousand dollars for just Jaree and Jariel,still not done and I have to still get my nieces,nephews, god children, siblings, and parents gift! (Gift cards) And that doesn't count Bee's money.

I am thinking of adopting the 3 gift rule. That is what they brought "baby Jesus". I heard a lady in Target say she only get's her kids 3 gifts. I said how cool is that ! I don't think that would go over well with Miss Jaree! She seems to want the WORLD!!!!! And she has her daddy so wrapped around that little finger of hers, she gets what she wants MOST of the time...LOL

Today, I am finishing up a little shopping and hanging out with Baptiste! Nothing special. I have to the garage and get a few things I purchased out of my trunk, and smuggle them in my closet before Jaree and Jariel wake up...LOL

they are so damned nosey!

I came across this picture and it cracks me up everytime. This was Jariel and Jaree aka Bonnie and Clyde on Easter. She was 3 and he was 5 1/2. Jaree was being nosey, while Jariel was taking his picture. I like to call the picture the PROTECTOR. It looks like he's protecting her from something. Look at his face. He looks so serious, so mean! It look like he saying, if you mess with my sister, you mess with me. Much the way he is now. Both her brother's are super duper protective. Expecially now since she is developing into a little woman, A boy better not look her way.....LOL


So Yesterday, We went out and got some more of the kids stuff, 2 games for Jaree's Nintendo Ds, Guitar Hero, and Mario Kart for the Wii, and 2 psp games for Jariel. I am just about done. I am giving my niece and nephew money so that is easy. Bee wants money. So that is easy. I get a little melancholy, becasue my kids are getting older. No more Santa! No more making reindeer food to feed the rudolf and the gang, no more standing in line to sit on Santa's lap, no more going to Toy S R us to get the special toy they just had to have...... I honestly have to say I miss that!

Jaree just pretends to believe in Santa, but I have a feeling that she does INDEED KNOW. I will never tell her that it's not. I can remember being young, I was so sad, when I found out there was no SANTA, I was 11. And my stupid cousin, showed me where my mom hid the gifts. I was crushed, but it also made me appreciate my parents more!!!! I don't think their was a Christmas that went by, that I didn't get everything I wanted!!!!! My mom spoiled us kids to death!!!!

Yesterday, I got a chance to go to Border's to get the 3rd installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse. I was a little bummed, because Walmart had it for 9.24, but I went there and they did not have it. It's not available in paperback so I had to pay 19.99 and I also got the latest installment of Somerset Memories, Paperkrafts, and another specialty magazine, put out by BHG. I think it was called Speicalty Paper Crafts or something like that. Jaree ended up getting 3 books. That girl loves to read! I tell you, she is her MOTHER'S CHILD....LOL

I watched Bad Girls Club last night and boy was it crazy. I do think they are going to have to step it up, if they want to be half as good as the first two seasons!!! Loved seaon 1. Ripsi was so funny, and Ty beat the hell out of Amy...... And then season 2 The fight between Genavecia and Tanisha....oh my goodness. This is reality tv at it's best.....LOL

Today I don't have a lot planned! Just laundry, we are eating leftover gumbo, today I will just be chilling!!! LOL

I do plan on finishing up New Moon, I have less than a hundred pages to finish and that will definietley be done today!!! I will be telling you how much I loved the book on tommorrow. I will also be starting Eclipse tommorrow!!!! Exciting times. I am sooooooo addicted to Edward, Bella, and Jacob. I don't know, I might be turning to team Jacob!!!! I kinda like him and Bella together.....LOL

I am off to go finish some laundry....

My baby is sick

Miss Jaree woke up this morning crying and puking her guts out!
Seems she may have the stomach flu.
Right now she is sleeping, bundled tightly in my bed.

I don't know what is about mommy's bed that makes everything ok, but she is sleeping like an angel right now.

As for me, I have tons and tons to do. The house is one big mess and I can't stand it, so I am off to do some cleaning.

No plans for today! Cleaning and watching REal Chance at Love and Scream Queens. My guilty pleasures!

Baptiste doesn't get off until 5 today, so I plan to have dinner in the oven and the house totally cleaned by the time he gets home, so we can snuggle.

That's always a good thing!!
